Ouch

I appear to have jacked up my knee while getting out of my car this morning. Perfect timing, too ... today was the cardio portion of my workout plan, which involves extensive use of an elliptical machine with varying degrees of resistance. Strangely enough, that didn't bother me one bit, but climbing up and down stairs does. I smeared some Mineral Ice on my knee and called it a day ... good thing I don't have to go upstairs anymore tonight. Tomorrow is the lower-body workout, though, and because of this knee bullshit I don't think I'll be doing squats. Oh well.

BreakoutVR 1.5 is pretty much done. Actually, I wouldn't say 1.5 ... it's more like 1.25 because it lacks the sexy Lotus particle engine, but the Tokamak physics engine is working pretty well. I have yet to see it run on the C-Wall, though. I wanted to see it run there today, but there was a whole bunch of people in there and they weren't going to leave until 7. Oh well.

I guess that's all for tonight. I got my hands on most of the Initial D Manga, so I'll be reading that for a while. Spring break is next week, w00t :-)

Goodbye, Intel
Saturday, 12 March, 2005, 01:39
My brief stint with Prescott is over. I no longer own an Intel-based system. I yanked the base system components out of my case (mobo, CPU, RAM) and replaced them with something that I've been more comfortable with but have strayed from: AMD stuff. My motherboard is now an Asus A8N-SLI, my CPU is an Athlon 64 3500+, and my RAM is ... well, it's still a gig of HyperX, but it's DDR (not DDR2) now.

I haven't done any real testing to see how this config performs against the P4 one. I mean, all I've really done with it is install drivers, download updates, and load apps. It's too early to tell how it fares in games, but that is coming. I might even play some HL2DM tonight, just to test the system out. Yeah, that's it ... just to test it ...

I found that ATI's Catalyst 5.3 drivers don't like two components on my X800 Pro: the Rage Theater chip, and some "Specialized Codec". So, I'm using the good ol' 4.11 version. Kind of surprising that last November's version supports those components but this month's, which are a few days old as of this typing, don't.

I'm off to continue with my app loading.

O GOD THE AFTERMATH
Wednesday, 2 March, 2005, 15:00
Now that I've said it ... nope, I haven't listened to it yet. I want to, though, seeing how Norma Jean's coming through this area in less than 2 weeks. That means I must see them. I realize they have a new album, but if I don't at least hear "Creating Something Out Of Nothing, Only To Destroy It", I will be somewhat unhappy. It's very difficult to get unhappy when Norma Jean's on stage, though.

I'm working on redoing my workplace's web page. I grabbed something from OSWD and am modifying it to fit my needs, without touching the copyright information of course. OSWD is pretty cool. I want to make this thing as easy as possible for others to work on because ... well ... still waiting on the Big Things (TM) announcement.

BreakoutVR 2.0 is underway. I have set a hard deadline for the physics to be finished. Getting the blocks to work with Tokamak is interesting to say the least.
